You Give. You Receive
A charitable gift annuity is a great way to support the Archdiocese of Chicago and feel confident that you have dependable income in retirement years. This type of donation can provide you with regular payments and allow us to further our work. You can also receive a variety of tax benefits, including a federal income tax charitable deduction.
An Example of how it works
Say that Ronald, 80, and Elaine, 78, want to contribute to the Archdiocese that will support our work, but they also want to ensure that they have dependable income for the rest of their lives. They establish a $1 million charitable gift annuity with the Archdiocese. Based on their ages, they will receive a payment rate of 5.6 percent, which means that they will receive $56,000 each year for the remainder of their lives. They're also eligible for a federal income tax charitable deduction of $427,560* when they itemize. As a result, they know that after their lifetimes, the remaining amount will be used to support our mission.
*Based on annual payments and a 2.4 percent charitable midterm federal rate. Deductions vary based on income earned.
