Bishop Quarter Legacy Society
Cardinal Cupich welcomes the partnership of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s faithful through the Bishop Quarter Legacy Society.
Membership in the Bishop Quarter Legacy Society is available to those who join Cardinal Cupich in securing the future of the Church in Chicago through their charitable plans. These planned gifts are a valuable resource to the Archdiocese and its ministries and programs that benefit many individuals across Cook and Lake Counties.
The Bishop Quarter Legacy Society allows members to leave their own legacies to our local Archdiocese — reminiscent of the man for whom it is named. William Quarter was an Irish immigrant who sought missionary work in the New World, but was rejected by a Canadian seminary. After ordination in New York, he served among those suffering with cholera. As Chicago’s first bishop, he founded Catholic schools in the diocese and initiated the service of the Sisters of Mercy. Most importantly, Bishop Quarter eliminated the debt of the diocese by securing contributions and donating his own personal funds, ensuring a strong foundation for our local Church’s mission for generations to come.
