Archdiocesan Scholarships
Our Catholic schools individually offer various financial assistance options to help increase the affordability and accessibility for all those who wish to attend. We offer two distinct archdiocesan scholarship programs to support our schools’ efforts, which represent opportunities for our supporters who are passionate about access to Catholic education. Phoenix Scholarships/Catholic Education Scholarship Trust
All funds within our Catholic Education Scholarship Trust (CEST) are reserved exclusively for scholarships for students in Catholic schools in Cook and Lake counties. A portion of the trust’s income is disseminated annually through The Phoenix Scholarship Program.
The first Phoenix Scholarships were awarded for the 2016-17 school year. Since then, over $10.4 million dollars and nearly 7,400 scholarships have been granted to qualifying students. The scholarship may cover up to 50 percent of a student’s tuition, with the balance paid by parents/guardians of the student. The scholarship may be renewed annually based on continued demonstration of need and meeting other criteria. The Trust Board has elected to prioritize scholarships for families and schools with the greatest need. To learn more, review the CEST Impact Report below.
Caritas Scholarship Program
The Caritas Scholarship Program is offered to elementary students attending Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools. The scholarship is awarded to families in need of financial support to continue placing their child/ren in their Catholic school. Without this scholarship, thousands of students would not have the opportunity to receive quality education and grow in a faith-based environment. These students are also able to be part of a community at school and receive multiple avenues of support and encouragement from staff.
Since the program’s inception, over $22 million in scholarship money has been awarded to over 15,000 students across the archdiocese. To learn more, review the Caritas Impact Report below.
